A Weekend Walk through Neum [Part 1/2]

I'm bringing back the multi part travel series on the blog it seems. After completing the 3-part Zijemlje travel series, I'm back again, but this time with a two part post about my recent weekend in Neum. I have already posted some GoPro underwater images I took while swimming there. This series here are actually two walks my friends and I made on two separate days. Part one covers the east part of town, while the second one covers the west part which includes a brand new walking lane. I hope you will enjoy both of them.

This is a two-part photo series:
A Weekend Walk through Neum - Part One
A Weekend Walk through Neum - Part Two

It was a cloudy day in Neum when we arrived and it would stay that way pretty much the entire weekend. But I didn't mind it. The sea was still warm enough for swimming and we even got some sun rays shining through the clouds. Neum is a popular place during the summer season, but I rarely visit it then. It's much nicer when it's off season, which it is now.

Our walk in the western part of the city began on the streets which are closed off for cars during the season. There were a few people here and there, but it was mostly empty, which was a lot due to the fact that rain was prognosed for the weekend. It did rain a few drops, but that was over with rather quickly.

The main reason for our walk was getting dinner in a really great restaurant called Laguna. I had the amazing tasting fried beef schnitzel with french fries. The others enjoyed the local and fresh seafood. It was all very delicious and we walked away with full stomachs.

It was already dusk when we finished our dinner and took some night shots while we were on the way back to our apartment. A really great day of relaxing, swimming, walking and having dinner, came to an end. But we looked forward to more exploration on the second day, which I will show you in part two, when the road will take us east towards a really great sunset!

End of Part One
To be continued...

  5. one of the things that amazed me today is the one of all those stairs.. I have never seen steps that go that high except in photos. here we are flat ground only and the most steps would be about 10.. you know I love your night shots and what a perfect place to sit and look at the view on the first two photos

    1. Neum, as you can see, is located on cliffs and hills so you will find lots of steep streets and steps along the way. Part two will have an interesting example of steps in this town.

  6. Beautiful time to visit, without the crowds you have the beach and the place all to yourselves.
